Allie Krings caught up with Storm freestyle wrestler Dustin Schlatter (70 kg) before he shipped out to Havana, Cuba with other Storm freestylers Zach Sanders (57 kg), Kevin LeValley (70 kg), and Tony Nelson (125 kg). They will be competing in the Cerro Pelado Cup in Havana, Cuba, February 13-14. Storm Greco wrestler Andy Bisek (75 kg) arrived a couple days before them and competed on Wednesday, February 11. Bisek ended up winning his second consecutive gold medal in the Granma Cup. The Storm freestyle action begins today in Havana.
Schlatter commented on how he is excited to be able compete with the “top notch” wrestlers Cuba offers, as well as experience the Cuban culture. He also touched on his match with last year’s world team member Nick Marable in the finals of the Dave Schultz Memorial last week.
