Jayson Ness Headlines Gopher Dual with Freestyle Exhibition

The Minnesota Gophers face off against Fresno State Sunday, December 10th, at 1 pm. The dual will honor current and past Storm members and feature an exhibition freestyle match with Jayson Ness. 

 

Hayden Zillmer ready to compete in the 2017 World Team Trials

Minnesota Storm's Hayden Zillmer (Right) will compete this week in the U.S. Greco Roman World Team Trials in Las Vegas. Currently ranked 19th in the world, Hayden looks to qualify for his first senior U.S. World Team and to represent the U.S. in the World Championships in Paris in August.  

Tony Nelson included in UWW's latest world rankings

Tony Nelson was included on the official “shortlist” of the world’s best freestyle wrestlers. The Minnesota Storm heavyweight has had a strong season and will bring momentum with him into Las Vegas for the U.S. Open National Championships, April 27-29.

Malcolm Allen wins the 2017 Dave Schultz Memorial International

“It shows I can do it,” Allen explained, after winning his first international competition in as many attempts. He joined the Minnesota Storm last year and has been improving ever since.
 

Nelson leads the way at the Bill Farrell International

The Minnesota Storm came away with five medals at the Bill Farrell International in New York City this weekend. Tony Nelson lead the way by defeating Dom Bradley in the freestyle finals at 125 kilograms (275 lbs).
 

Minnesota Storm well-represented at upcoming U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Iowa City

Legendary wrestler and promoter Verne Gagne died Monday surrounded by his family in Minnesota, according to close friends. He was 89. Gagne was the first Minnesotan on the U.S. Olympic Team. 

Jordan Holm named USA Wrestling athlete of the week

Jordan became the first U.S. wrestler to win the Hungarian Golden Grand Prix in 12 years. He won five matches on the day including a win over 2014 World Championships fifth place finisher, Johansson of Sweden in the finals.
